William and John Atkin designed this simple shoal-draft boat to sketches supplied by an experienced client, Commander Ed Hanks. Shore Liner is simply a large flat-bottomed skiff. Hanks, a knowledgeable sailor, understood the advantages and limitations of these basic hulls. He chose simplicity and shoal draft over hydrodynamic niceties. 24′ Shore Liner DESCRIPTION Hull type: Flat-bottomed, transom sterned Rig: Jib-headed sloop, double-head sloop option Construction: Plank on frame, sheet plywood option, on sawn frames PERFORMANCE Suitable for somewhat protected waters Intended capacity: 1-4 Trailerable Propulsion: Sail BUILDING DATA Skill needed: Basic to intermediate Lofting required: Yes PLANS DATA No. of sheets: 6 Supplemental information: No Level of Detail: Above average Plans Format: Print or Digital Cost per set: $85 Plan No. 166 Related Publications: Practical Small Boat Designs, by John Atkin Building Small Boats, by Greg Rössel Particulars LOA:  24′ LWL:  22′ Beam:  9′ Draft:  (cb up) 1′ (cb down) 6′6″ Displacement:  about 3000 lbs Sail area:  363 sq ft
