HINDU is expected to return to Thomaston, Maine, at the close of the season for her final layer of teak decking.

Even though the “Save a Classic” page wasn’t solely responsible for hooking all of the new owners who went on to save the following fine classics, I hope it has helped. I’m very gratified that each of these fine yachts, just as those detailed in my article on page 74, has been given a new lease on life.

  • VAYU, a 78′ Herreshoff gaff cutter of 1905 (WB No. 162, 2001), being restored by Snediker Yacht Restoration in Old Mystic, Connecticut, and reverting to her original name, DORIS.
  • GRACE, a 62′ Sparkman & Stephens/Minneford motorsailer of 1965 (WB No. 225, 2012), restored by Brooklin (Maine) Boat Yard and reverted to her original name of DJINN.
  • HINDU, a 61′ schooner designed by William Hand and built at Hodgdon Brothers in 1925 (WB No. 184, 2005), restored by Josh Rowan in Thomaston, Maine, for charter service out of Provincetown, Massachusetts.
  • THELMA, a 58′ Logan 10-rater sloop of 1897 (WB No. 154, 2000), restored in Auckland, New Zealand.
  • POLLY, a 56′ Davis/Nevins sloop of 1945 (WB No. 188, 2006), restored by Peter Gallant in Eliot, Maine.
  • SCUD, a 49′ Herreshoff Bar Harbor 31 class sloop of 1903 (WB No. 156, 2000), restored by Cantieri Navale Argentario in Italy.
  • ROBIN, a 49′ Paine/Lawley Q-class sloop of 1928 (WB No. 258, 2017), restored by John Anderson, Waldoboro, Maine.
  • FALCON, a 47′ Burgess/Herreshoff Q-class sloop of 1926 (WB No. 152, 2000), restored by John Anderson in Waldoboro, Maine.
  • CAMAI, a 42′ Alden/Molich Nordfarer yawl of 1958 ( WB No. 254, 2017), restoration nearly completed by Hans Vierthaler in Belmont, Maine.
  • FAME, a 41′ Crowninshield/Rice schooner of 1910 (WB No. 212, 2010), restored by C.F. Koehler in San Diego, California.
  • BONNY BRIDE, a Doucette 40′ Novi lobsterboat of 1969 (WB No. 206, 2009), being restored by Walt Ansel in Gales Ferry, Connecticut.
  • EPIPHANY, a 39′ Nilsen/Shenlin 22-square-meter sloop of 1935 (WB No. 260, 2018), being restored by Matt Macone in Rockport, Maine.
  • GO GO GIRL, a 39′ McIntosh sloop of 1965 (WB No. 263, 2018), restored by Paul Rollins in Kittery, Maine, and renamed CEDAR (see WB 273).
  • UNCLE ROY, a 34′ Stephens Brothers power cruiser of 1929 (WB No. 256, 2017), restored by Eric Dow in Brooklin, Maine, now has Solomons Island, Maryland, as her home port.
  • ZINGARA, a 30′ Butler/Moody sloop of 1936 (WB No. 252, 2016), restored on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

The N.G. Herreshoff–designed yacht DORIS of 1905, 77′6″ LOA, is undergoing a complete rebuild at Snedicker Yacht Restoration in Old Mystic, Connecticut.
