ISOBEL is a stunning 26′ runabout designed by Stephens Waring Design of Belfast, Maine, and built by Belmont Boat Works of Belmont, Maine. She was conceived as a commuter boat serving an island property on a Maine lake. A tight set of parameters—a short commute, readily available charging on both ends of the commute, and occasional watersports outings of an hour or so—made the boat an ideal candidate for clean, quiet electric propulsion.

In addition to watching this video, you can read about ISOBEL’s creation in designer Bob Stephens’s article, ISOBEL: An electric runabout with mid-century roots, which was published in WoodenBoat No. 308 (January/February 2026).
